What should a quote include?
A quote needs a quote number, issue date, and an expiration date after which the pricing is no longer guaranteed. List each product or service with a fixed price, so the client knows exactly what they'll pay if they accept — that fixed-price commitment is what separates a quote from a looser estimate.
What's the difference between a quote and an estimate?
A quote is a fixed price you commit to for a defined scope of work. An estimate is an approximate cost that may change once the full scope becomes clear. Use a quote when your pricing is firm; use an estimate when costs could shift.
Is a quote legally binding?
Once a client accepts your quote, it generally becomes a binding agreement on price for the work described — which is why it's worth listing clear terms and an expiration date.
